What’s On Your Kitchen Table?

Sep
11

From the garden…… A pot full of peppers. Seven jars of freshly-made apple butter. Cornbread made from freshly-ground cornmeal. Zinnias and marigolds. Corn (what the deer didn’t take).

What’s on YOUR kitchen table?

Technically I don’t have a kitchen table. At the moment I have a dictionary on my dining room table that’s hardly ever used. The table we eat at is totally cluttered with just plain stuff. The only thing related to food is salt and pepper shakers and a container of almonds. I much prefer your table lol.

I want to come live with you. What table? I can’t see it. My family are visiting and ALL their stuff is on the table. As for chairs, forget it, I haven’t seen those in a week.:wall: However, my lovely daughter-in-law has the rest of the house spotless. I can eat off the couch arm for a while, it won’t kill me. All too soon they will be gone and I will miss them, so what’s a little inconvenience in the grand scheme of life? Nada! Have a great day and hugs to all.

Placemats, napkin basket, empty vase (the flowers died and were thrown out), 2 hotpads, bills to be paid, lots of loose papers from the schools my boys attend and fundraiser pamphlets that the school is already starting.

I’m kind of surprised there’s not a cat on there, too. :)

The only thing on my table right now is a tablecloth. I would love to visit you. You like to cook and I don’t! lol

    Books.

I’m serious. We’re cataloging our collection, so books are stacked everywhere at the moment.

Sometimes, there is a cat there, too.

I have on my kitchen table the following: 2 butterfly ornaments for the fence, bills, receipts, an old hymn book, a blue bowl with no fruit, etc. etc. It is a disaster.

Um, the cat. Lots of piles of paper. An old TV that doesn’t work. It’s a mess. I’m coming to your house. I like what’s on your table better!!

Dare I admit it? I guess I have to: I have no kitchen table. There, my secret is out. I haven’t had one for the last 8 years since I left the house. I just don’t have any room and since I do soooo much entertaining–not, I usually eat at my desk. For emergencies, I have a couple of old TV tables. But since I’m the world’s worst cook, I don’t even invite anybody anymore.

Besides, I still have 2 big boxes of kitchen stuff that I don’t know where to put. I sincerely hope that I don’t have to stay here forever so I was just thinking today about putting away some of the things that I can’t see myself using unless there’s company. I suppose if I drank more of my tea and ate up other things, I’d have more room to put less necessary items in the kitchen cupboards, even if the latter are very impractical.

But I certainly like the look of your kitchen table, Suzanne. Makes me hungry and that’s saying something these days.

Wow, look at all those peppers! That’s amazing. My tomatoes and peppers are starting to go dormant. I think I’m on the last of the “harvest.” :hissyfit:

On my table? A sugar pumpkin (decoration for a few days, pumpkin bread next week).

I love this time of year: home grown tomatoes are the best!

    Great crop!

Nothing as good as on yours.

Been loving the kitty pictures lately.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"Lamb-y, then whammy! Get some tickets to Miami! Snow is easing, but we're still freezing. It may be spring by the astronomer, but not by the thermometer. Mighty fine, then leonine."
