New River Bridge, second highest bridge in the United States at 876 feet! Isn’t it beautiful? It’s one of West Virginia’s best-known road wonders and it’s only a couple hours away from here….. It stretches 3,030 feet in length with an arch of 1700 feet, making it the longest steel single arch span in the world.

Gorgeous photo, and I learned something. I live in the west and don’t hear a lot of things about the east.

Oh, what a yummy place. I’ve seen some gorgeous places in Europe and in North America and this can join them… Well, I guess not quite. I’d have to go to see it myself. But it is awesome. Usually, I’ve wanted to see cultures but we always made room to see natural wonders and marvels like this bridge. My father was an architect and the friend I usually went travelling with in Europe was an Art major and learned how to make stained glass windows from the man who replaced the ones in the Cathedral of Ulm Germany which had been lost to bombing. So I soaked in a lot of art and especially church architecture from her. I loved it.

This reminds me, without the bridge, of the Gorges du Verdon River in Provence France. It’s sort of Europe’s little sister to the Grand Canyon–not as deep, not as colorful, not as long and not as wide. But it is a very pretty area. The end of it sort of resembles this. I’ll have to find my slides to verify that.

Did your new little digital work better at getting this shot than your other one would have?
