I’m a farmer!!!!! Well, okay, my cousin Georgia is the real farmer. She knows gardening! I’m her little apprentice. I joined her in the garden the other day wearing jean shorts and boots–I looked like a Cowboys cheerleader…… We staked peas–with oil field rods! Steel or something! I don’t know but they were HEAVY! Georgia was picking them up like they were twigs! Then we hoed. I said, why are we hoeing? (It was HARD!!!) She said, because we need to. Yes, I’m pretty sure I ask stupid questions….. LOL. We planted corn and green beans and peas and onions and lettuce and flowers, lots of flowers. And more to come.

I haven’t really been planting anything…I have no green thumb. However, we did put some grass seed in the back and front yards. Patches of grass are missing or dying so we are trying to get more to grow. Some new gras has already popped up, but not much.

I plant flowers. I have a garden in the back yard and sometimes it looks really pretty. I spend a lot of time trimming the bushes too. It’s good exercise! lol

The only thing I’m planting is a big kiss on my husband’s cheek for being such a nice guy. haha! I don’t have a garden. I don’t like to dig in dirt because I don’t like what I find in there like worms and such. I usually have a few flowers in a container but my husband plants those.

Ah gardening, my favorite hobby
I inherited my dad’s green thumb so I love planting stuff, especially from seed. I’ve got tomatoes and peppers already transplanted from the seed trays and in the shed already. In pots I’ve got pansies, lavateras, asters, zinnias, portulancas, cosmos, asters, daisies and petunias. And we just filled the side flower bed with more soil yesterday so once the rain clears away I’ll be seeding that this week, probably with 4 o’clocks and alyssum with zinnia thrown in for some color.

I planted green beans, tomatoes, cabbage, squash, cucumbers,marigolds, four o’clocks and cosmos Tuesday. I will can the green beans—can’t stand store bought green beans.

Just put up a fence so i’m planting hostas as a border in front of the fence. Also planted azaleas, marigolds and begonias. My brother is going to give me tomato, cucumber and string bean seedlings and hopefully I won’t kill my veggies this year.

I guess I could grow some dandelions in the cracks in the driveway. I don’t have a single square inch of soil to grow something in. I thought of getting a plant for the house at least but the windows are so high up, I don’t have anything to put the plants on if I want them to have any sun.
So, I’m seriously plant-deprived and will likely remain so for the duration of my stay in this so-called apartment.
I’ve put up some silk and some dried flowers. Does that count? Have to brighten up the place somehow.:yes:

I have given up on trying to grow vegetables…the deer always beat me to them! So the only planting I do these days are flowers and shrubs! So far I have sown the zinnia and cosmos seeds and put out some new day lillies, canna lillies and hostas. I am still thinking about what annuals to put in the beds around the front porch, though….

I planted a tree - it’s either an american cranberry bush or a washington hawthorn. My husband has gotten a tree from work on arbor day for the last 3 or 4 years. The problem is we don’t know which one we got and they both have alike looking berries and one is eatable and the other is poison!!!!!! I guess I shouldn’t try and find out lol.
I also have some hostas someone gave us and onion bulbs someone else gave us, and some callas someone gave us a few years back. (Isn’t it nice how everyone shares:yes:) And I have another friend who wants to give me some extra vegetable plants. Problem is I don’t know if I have enough room.

My daughter wanted a garden this year so we are planting peppers, pumpkins, daisies and lots of sunflowers, her favorite flower.

We’ve planted tons of bulbs, as usual, we have lots and lots of flowers and keep adding more, since we also planted more perinniels (sp?). We’ve got lettuce, corn, rhubarb, tomatoes, LOTS of fruit trees and fruit bushes and are still planning on planting okra, cucumbers and whatever else sounds good this year. Actually, this year we are not planting as much.

Catslady, on your bush, watch to see if the birds eat the fruit or not, if they do it should be the cranberry if the other berries are poisonous. Is there any way you can check the leaves of the bush to type it? I would love to have fresh cranberries!

I am planting flowers in pots and flower beds. No garden spot available in our yard. Anyone has good suggestions for ‘easy to care for’ perennials it would be appreciated.

Took me a few years to figure out the gardening season here in Arizona– just when we would START planting tomatoes in New Jersey, they are BURNING UP FORM THE SUN and the season is OVER here..
I have a nice crop of lettuces, carrots, arugula, bok choy, japanese eggplant, all that are going to be DONE SOON.. this is the February /March planting season about to be decimated by summer sun.. The NEXT season for planting is when the bad summer heat (115!) is over, maybe around September–then we grow a BUNCH OF STUFF all the way to Christmas and into February!!
SOME people here go to great lengths to build shade screens and irrigation in an attempt to grow tomatoes in the DESERT in JULY.. but somehow, I think that is “fooling with Mother Nature!” WHY??? It all takes getting used to– but is a lot of growing time, after all.. just have to learn new “seasons..”

My husband and I have planted a vegetable garden this year. We have planted lettuce, onions, tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers and green beans.
We also have a flower garden. We have iris, marigold, hollyhock, tulips, roses, impatients, daylilys, etc.
I love gardening but I hate those pesky insects.
