Daily Dribble
I took my boys for sports physicals today. The older one wants to play baseball. The younger one wants to play football–so why does he need a sports physical in the spring, he asked? Because you should go out for track. Why? Because track will make you stronger for football. Okay, he actually grasped that concept. One for mommy! It was his first sports physical. He is a Man now.
On the way to take them back to school, I stopped for gas. It was COLD. I made my high schooler get out and pump the gas. What do I have boys for anyway? I told him a boy who wants to drive should know how to pump gas first. He pumped. Later, after school, I took him out on the narrow country road in the middle of the badass West Virginia boonies and let him get behind the wheel. Yes, he abandoned HIS TURN on the computer and everything (!!!) for this momentous occasion. I spent a lot of time saying USE THE BRAKE!!! and STAY AWAY FROM THE DITCH!!! The road is narrow and twisty turny and DEATH AWAITS AT EVERY BEND!!!! Yes, I am a mother, why do you ask??? He actually had to PASS A CAR on the narrow road and I barely managed to not pass out.
Maybe I should get my own gas next time. I can’t handle all this growing up stuff.
