I’m Painting! Really!!

Shells! I love shelling. I never find anything really unusual, though, so apparently I’m not very good at it. I even lost my shell identification book while we were on Ocracoke Island. In the gift shops, my daughter kept telling me to BUY the pretty shells…. I don’t want to buy them! I want to find them! Ah, well. I will play with the ordinary shells I found. Need to dig up a pretty glass bowl from somewhere to display them….

Today, I’m painting the front hall!!! My weekend project. Yes, only eight short months after I bought the paint, I’m actually going to USE IT!!!! Maybe I’m in the mood now because the paint color I chose was very similar to beach sand…. With three children, I believe in buying paint that resembles dirt. Much more efficient in the longterm. I did all the trim yesterday, so today I get to roll fresh sand-colored paint right over all those dirty handprints! Can’t wait! Anyone else got any weekend projects planned, this weekend or coming up? I love decorating.

Seashells are so pretty. When we go to the beach, we just don’t find that many either. But it’s still fun. Good luck with the painting!

Our weekend project is to continue installing soffit/faschia and siding on our house. Kind of decorating, but on the outside.
    Looking forward to ‘Extravasuzanna’ tomorrow.:bananadance:

    I. Don’t. Paint. My dh won’t let me near a paintbrush. I enjoy watching home improvement shows. That is the extent of my decorating talents.

While my printer churns out promotional brochures, I’m alternating between blog-hopping and house cleaning. Need to straighten up the office and do an all-over vacuuming. Technically, I’m cleaning in preparation for my nephew’s month long visit. Like a teenager cares about dog hair on the rugs! In reality, the cleaning is lonnngggg overdue.

    Hey, Suzanne!

I cleaned the piles of books and manuscripts up off the floor in my office. So now it looks like I have new carpet. Does that count as decorating? :)

Congrats on ALL your great reviews!

You know, it feels so good to be able to talk about a weekend project we’ve been able to do! DH and I just had the first complete weekend off together (not counting holidays) since he started working retail five years ago.

Our project? Clearing out and reorganising the utility room, since we’re going to turn one end of it into the downstairs toilet.

We took a whole car-load of spider-infested junk to the dump. Deeply satisfying…

I painted my daughter’s room a lovely buttercream color. Love, love, love it. Must find girly things to decorate with! You can come paint my trim when you’re done with the hall….:guitar:

Your hallway is so pretty! And those shells are beautiful. Makes me think of the movie SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE. That’s the one, right? With Diane Keaton? She collects only white shells to display in her house, then Jack Nicholson jazzes up her life with a black shell. And, er, other stuff.

I have always collected shells since I was little. When my children were younger we all collected them and then they would use them in craft projects. Good luck with your painting.

Love those colors–I am also a sand/shell/beach aholic…but not the sunbathing thing, the windblown thing

I base all my colors on that beach house thing–except for the Barbie pink in our upstairs hall that is garish and awful :yuck: My daughter LOVES it. LOL.

Weekend projects for me are alway writing (if people would stop inviting me out ) Hubby does the decorating (as he hates how I paint-must be the artist in me?:fryingpan:) and I choose the colors.

My weekend projects: I did Happy Hour Friday night, and I’m going to a big party today with hubby, so I’ll probably get sent to the dungeon if I ever have to go to the Magdelene Convent. I hope you are having a F***Y Fruiters  while you paint. Don’t fall off the ladder.

Our weekend project was a garage sale yesterday. Big waste of time. Today, I’m doing very little.

    I LOVE seashells.

Sounds like you’re going to be busy. We’re going to be finishing up the bathroom and starting on our two new rooms. Um…not decorating. Not yet. More like working our arses off.

We bought our house from my parents when they moved back east. They left it in VERY lived in condition, so every weekend is home improvement around here! This weekend is basement cleaning (it was the space of an 18 year old brother so EW). Next week we are gonna refelt the pool table, the week after that is hole-in-the-wall repair time, followed by carpet removal/replacement. Ugh. :wall:

Beautiful hallway. I’m sure the rest of the house is just gorgeous!
I couldn’t say anything about the paint finally being used after you purchased it eight months ago. Today, I finally put up wall hangings and pictures…that I bought about a year and a half ago. And I need to borrow somebody’s kids so I can have an excuse as to why.

We’re planning to finally utilize the paint we bought two months ago and redo our living room before the new furniture arrives. Notive I said *planning*. I don’t know at this point if it’ll actually get done.

Love the look of your hallway!

I love that sandy color. A good friend of mine’s living room/kitchen is that color and its just so nice
Weekend projects, well helping my dad with yardwork. We’re becoming stone people this year, digging out lawn and putting in those charcoal gray stones. So far we’ve done a sitting area for my mom on the side of the house and tonight we just started the area for the barbecue.

 I love finding and collecting shells. The best time to look is really early in the morning when they haven’t been picked over.

 Good luck with your painting project. Wish me luck on my moving project. :wall:

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
