My husband decided I had laptop lint. At first he said, you need to take it to a professional to be cleaned. Yeah, right, like I can give up my laptop for five minutes much less a few days. Then while I was off making focaccia, he suddenly decided, why hire a professional? He has an air compressor, doesn’t he? Next thing I know he’s walking off to the garage WITH MY LAPTOP. Don’t worry, dear, I’m just going to use the air gun on it. THE AIR GUN? I don’t even know what an air gun is but GET IT AWAY FROM MY BABY! Too late!!!! But–whew. Apparently my laptop still works and it is de-lint-ified. In fact, it’s actually running better but don’t tell him that. Just so you know, don’t use words like gun when you’re carrying my laptop in your hands. It FREAKS ME OUT!
Fun with herbs! Sage, rosemary, thyme, chives, basil, and oregano!
Posted by Suzanne McMinn | PermalinkToday….yes, I still have a last chapter to polish and a book due in TWO DAYS…..but I’m going to do something calming first. I’m going to head off to the garden center to stock up on fresh herbs in pots I can plant on the deck, and then I’m going to bake some foccacia bread. I’ll polish the end of my book while the focaccia is rising. Focaccia is a great dipping bread, so I’ll get out my cute Italian dipping bowls, mix up some herbs and olive oil, and make a big deal out of something simple tonight at dinner. I’ll come back later with a picture and the recipe.
Later–bread! You need: 3 1/2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons yeast, 6 tablespoons olive oil, and 1 cup warm water for the bread. Mix, let rise one hour. Knead in two tablespoons fresh cut rosemary and 2-3 cloves chopped garlic. Let rise again; sprinkle with oil and salt. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Serve will herbed olive oil. Yum! Also picked up pots of rosemary, sage, chives, basil, oregano, and thyme at the garden center today. Must find time to replant in the big deck pot this week…..
"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"First it's glowing, then it's snowing! A pause, then screaming squalls and williwaws. Bright but bitter, then a thaw. Yet again it's cold and storming: What ever happened to global warming?"
